Take your seats in Bristol’s incredible Planetarium at We The Curious. Explore the Planetarium’s Space exhibition before the screening and see if you’re cut out for a life in space, then recline in this unique screening space. As the lights dim, your journey will begin with a tour of the Solar System in a Planetarium star show - the perfect way to set the scene for your film…

We’re thrilled to be presenting a digitally restored screening of the pioneering 1950s sci-fi - and loosely Shakespearian! - classic Forbidden Planet at the Planetarium. This screening will be introduced with one of the Planetarium’s star shows.

About The Film

In the distant future, starship C-57D travels to the remote planet Altair IV in order to determine the fate of an expedition that disappeared 20 years earlier. They find just two survivors, a warning not to remain, and a deadly secret that haunts the planet.

More Information

• When you arrive at We The Curious, please go to the side entrance of the building, next to the Planetarium sphere in Millenium Square, not We The Curious' main entrance.

• Millennium Square car park is a safe and secure 24hr car park adjacent to We The Curious. Named by the AA as one of the best places in the UK to park your car, it is an underground car park, open 24 hours a day with on site security.

• We The Curious is close to many city centre bus stops. The closest train station is Bristol Temple Meads.

• Wherever possible, we encourage walking or using public transport to travel to our events.


• The Planetarium is accessed via the entrance on Millennium Square. There is lift access from this point to the Planetarium itself, with level access in the Space Gallery.

• If you require a wheelchair space in the Planetarium, please contact us in advance as spaces are limited.

• If you are attending an event as a carer for a disabled guest, then you are entitled to free access. Please select the relevant ticket and bring appropriate proof of eligibility such as proof of blue badge, access card, cinema for all card, letter from a professional or evidence of DLA/PIP. If you are uncertain, please contact us.

• Subtitles: please contact us if you require a film to be screened with subtitles. Many of our screenings can accommodate subtitles, however this varies depending on the film.




• We cannot guarantee access before the stated doors time on your ticket, so advise you arrive as close to this time as possible.

• Please do not consume food not purchased on the premises in the Planetarium.


•Guests will be able to explore the Planetarium's Space Gallery prior to the start of the film.
