GREEN ROOM at Screening Room

  • Averys Wine Merchants 9 Culver Street Bristol, England, BS1 5LD United Kingdom (map)
A wonderfully nasty, gruesome, jagged-edge gem of a horror film, with echoes of ‘The Cabin in the Woods’, ‘The Texas Chain Saw Massacre’ and ‘The Evil Dead’ […] The cinematography, the set design, the all-important soundtrack, the editing: all first-rate. This is one smart chiller
— Richard Roeper (Chicago Sun-Times)

DOORS: 15:30 | FILM STARTS 15:45

Our Screening Room Series is back at Averys Wine Cellars for 2023! These intimate screenings will celebrate a diverse range of films that the Festival team have personally selected; from genre highlights to foreign cinema, to underrated classics to indie gems, we’ll be showing a mix of great cinema that deserves a wider audience.

Every screening includes an arrival drink and an introduction explaining the context and significance of the chosen film, and the rationale behind its selection for our programme.

Our final three Screening Room events of 2023 will be Saturday matinee screenings, making them a perfect way to spend an autumn afternoon!

As part of our 2023 Halloween week, we’ve chosen something a little different from the usual horror fare, but don’t be lulled into a false sense of security…! 2015’s Green Room may read like a thriller on paper, but this exceptionally well-crafted, taut psychological thriller presents an “it could actually happen” scenario as terrifying as any movie monster. It will put you through the wringer throughout its 95 minute duration – and how many other films can lay claim to making Sir Patrick Stewart appear terrifying?

Take your evening further with our add-on options:

• Enjoy a pre-screening wine tasting session as you learn more about wine tasting over a glass

• Indulge with a delicious deli box from Two Belly, with cheeses, chutney and crackers to enjoy alongside your film and wine

• Attending in a group of six or more? Take a look at our Group Bookings option below

About The Film

2015 | 18 | 95 mins

After a last-minute cancellation, hardcore punk band The Ain’t Rights reluctantly agree to play a gig in a remote rural location instead, which turns out to be a skinhead dive bar. As the band attempt to leave they inadvertently witness a grisly crime, and find themselves in a fight for survival as they barricade themselves in the venue’s green room, while a ruthless Neo-Nazi seeks to remove all witnesses.

Contains strong bloody violence and gore, strong language, discriminatory language, moderate sex references

About The Location

Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK’s most pioneering wine merchants. Their historic wine cellar can be found beneath their shop on Culver Street, and is an atmospheric and intimate setting for our both our Screening Room and our popular Vintage Screenings series.
