‘James and the Giant Peach’ shines with weird, whimsical invention
— Steven Rea (Philadelphia Inquirer)

DOORS: 17:30 | FILM STARTS 17:50

Join us in Arnos Vale Cemetery, Bristol’s very own necropolis, for two nights of screenings dedicated to two of the great directors of dark fantasy, Guillermo Del Toro and Henry Selick! Enter this fascinating space after hours, get a drink from our pop-up bar, then make your way to the beautiful Anglican Chapel to take your seat, and enjoy the show in this unique venue.

The first screening is Selick’s Oscar-nominated adaptation of James and the Giant Peach; the film faithfully captures the giddy (and sometimes macabre) atmosphere of Roald Dahl’s original novel, which turns 60 this year!

About The Film

1996 | U | 79 mins

After dropping magical crocodile tongues in his garden, young orphan James is amazed when they produce a tree bearing a gigantic peach. He discovers that it is inhabited by several anthropomorphic insects, and escapes his cruel aunts ‘aboard’ the peach with these peculiar new friends – but James’ adventure has only just begun…
