DOORS: 18:15 | EVENT BEGINS: 18:45

Bristol is an international hub for wildlife filmmaking, with the BBC’s Natural History unit opening here almost 70 years ago. We’re pleased to be hosting a talk and film screening, with a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the work that goes into creating such breathtaking content.

We’re delighted to announce that this September we’ll be screening the Oscar-winning March Of The Penguins, the heart-warming and breathtaking story of one of the most epic animal ‘pilgrimages’ on earth. With local post-production facility Films@59 providing an introductory talk on their work on major wildlife productions, and some of the behind-the-scenes skills used during editing, this is a must-see for animal lovers of all ages.

About The Film

2005 | U | 86 mins

Every year in Antarctica, thousands of Emperor penguins leave the ocean and traverse dozens of miles to reach their ancestral breeding grounds. This remarkable journey sees them battle against some of the harshest conditions on earth, to create the miracle of life; this Oscar-winning documentary (narrated by Morgan Freeman) captures the penguins’ odyssey in stunning detail.
