PASSPORT TO PIMLICO at Averys Wine Merchants

  • Averys Wine Merchants 9 Culver Street Bristol, England, BS1 5LD United Kingdom (map)
Every line, every ‘gag’, is a little masterpiece of wit
— The Monthly Film Bulletin

DOORS: 18:45 | FILM STARTS 19:00

Vintage Screenings pair classic films with thematically linked wine tastings to create unique evenings in the stunning setting of Averys Wine Merchants’ historic wine cellar. Following a sparkling wine reception, the film will be accompanied by a tasting of four carefully selected wines courtesy of Averys’ resident experts.

After almost two years of postponement, we’re delighted to at long last be screening the classic Ealing comedy Passport To Pimlico. Due to the importance of Burgundy in the plot, we’ll be tasting wines made from the two key grapes from the region: Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Please note that Vintage Screenings are strictly for over-18s only

About The Film

1949 | PG | 84 mins

When an unexploded WWII bomb accidentally detonates, it unearths a cellar containing ancient proof that the London district of Pimlico is legally part of the Duchy of Burgundy – which makes it exempt from British law, including rationing and pub closing hours…!

About The Location

Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK’s most pioneering wine merchants. Their historic wine cellar can be found beneath their shop on Culver street, and is an atmospheric and intimate setting for our Vintage Screenings.
