After a December launch, we’re returning to Goldney Hall Orangery for some of the finest murder mysteries ever to grace the silver screen! This beautiful venue, hidden on the edge of Clifton Village, will be opening its doors to Festival guests this spring for showings of classic whodunnits. It’s the perfect fit, after all - keen-eyed guests may recognise the Orangery as where John Watson held his wedding reception in the hit BBC series Sherlock…
We have very kindly been given special permission from Hartswood Films to screen Sherlock: The Sign Of Three in the venue where it was filmed, the first time this feature-length episode of the cult show has been screened ‘on location’. Take your seat in this beautiful venue and enjoy the great detective’s greatest challenge yet: to deliver a best man speech for Watson…!
Make sure to read the ‘Getting Here’ tab at the bottom of this page; like key clues in so many detective stories, the Orangery is hiding in plain sight, and it’s easy to miss…!

John Watson is getting married, and his best man Sherlock Holmes is struggling to write his speech. As he focuses on some of the unsolved cases that the duo have investigated, Sherlock begins to spot details that they may have overlooked - but can he crack the cases as well as delivering an appropriate speech, or is this a step too far for the misanthropic sleuth…?
Contains moderate gore and post mortem detail
About The Location
18th Century Goldney House and Gardens are nestled in the heart of beautiful Clifton Village and set within its own walled gardens. The secret garden includes a gothic tower, grotto, bastion, a rotunda and ornamental canal and Orangery. The Orangery, which overlooks these tranquil gardens, is home to our murder mystery film series - a fitting location, since the venue was famously used as John Watson’s wedding venue in the beloved Sherlock TV series!
