“The greatest comedy ever made [...] It is structured so meticulously that it glides from moment to moment with the elegance of an Olympic figure skater, and the consummate screwball dialogue is so polished that every line includes either a joke, a double meaning, or an allusion to a line elsewhere in the film”

Vintage Screenings pair classic films with thematically linked wine tastings - usually held in Averys Wine Merchants’ historic wine cellar, this year the Vintage Screenings are going on tour, to Screen2 in The Mall Gardens.
Begin your evening with a glass of sparkling wine, before enjoying a tasting of 2 whites, and 2 reds. Our wine experts will guide your through your tasting at stages during the film, with each wine selected due to its link to the film.
Our first film in screen2 is the screwball comic caper Some Like It Hot; the wickedly funny story of two cross-dressing jazz musicians on the run from the Mob brazenly defied the infamous strict morality rules of the Hays Code. With a swinging soundtrack and Marilyn Monroe at her very best, it’s still as riotously good fun over 60 years on as it was upon release!
