THE BABADOOK at Redcliffe Caves

  • Redcliffe Caves Phoenix Wharf Bristol, BS1 6SR United Kingdom (map)
I’ve never seen a more terrifying film. It will scare the hell out of you as it did me
— William Friedkin (director of 'The Exorcist')

DOORS: 12:30 | FILM STARTS 12:45

It’s back… Venture deep into Redcliffe Caves – for the latest instalment of our infamous Horror In The Caves series. Enter through our military tent on Redcliffe Wharf, grab a drink from our pop-up bar to steel your nerves, and step foot inside one of Bristol’s most unusual and exclusive locations for another season of classic and contemporary horror movies. We look forward to welcoming you – if you’re brave enough…

Somehow, it’s already time to celebrate the 10th birthday of The Babadook! This harrowing psychological chiller was part of our very first Horror In The Caves programme way back in March 2016, and we’re excited to bring it back to the Caves for an anniversary screening. Top hats off to first time director Jennifer Kent for this astonishing debut, which is one of the creepiest films of the century so far…

Please note: Redcliffe Caves is a unique event space - we highly recommend all guests read the ‘Venue & Event Information’ tab at this bottom of this page prior to booking.

About The Film

2014 | 15 | 90 mins

When six-year-old Sam begins behaving erratically and worrying about monsters, his widowed mother Amelia blames a mysterious and unsettling pop-up book called Mister Babadook. However, as events grow increasingly sinister, Amelia begins to worry that there may be someone - or something - very real threatening her family.

Contains strong supernatural threat, bloody images

About The Location

Redcliffe Caves are one of the most fascinating locations in Bristol. Originally created to mine sandstone glass in the 17th Century, these caves (technically a quarry!) have a rich and varied history, having been used by hermits, prisoners of war, and even as an air raid shelter. Now, they are accessed through a gate on the Harbourside, and are usually closed to the public.
