WITHNAIL & I at Wiper & True Taproom

  • Wiper and True Brewery & Taproom Unit 11, City Business Park Bristol, England, BS5 0SP United Kingdom (map)

EXTRA SCREENING ADDED DUE TO DEMAND: CLICK HERE

‘Withnail And I’ seesaws between hilarity and tragedy in a manner that doesn’t waste a single slurred syllable. The end result is not only incredibly funny but also one of the saddest, sharpest and, hell, downright educational movies ever made [...] This is and always will be a perfect dark comedy and a student staple
— William Thomas (Empire)

DOORS: 18:00 | FILM STARTS 18:30

Chase away the January blues with the ultimate cult comedy classic, screened onsite in a brewery - but we’ve also got Dry January covered too…

We’re partnering with our friends at Wiper and True for a screening of Withnail & I to liven up the deep midwinter this January. Head to this award-winning local brewery’s taproom in Old Market and enjoy Bruce Robinson’s riotous dark comedy. Whether you know every line or have yet to discover the delights of this true highlight of British cinema, it’s sure to be a hilarious evening that will perk up the seemingly unending second half of the month.

When you arrive, choose a free welcome pint from Wiper and True’s draught range, including delicious alcohol-free versions of their famous Kaleidoscope pale ale and Tomorrow lager, meaning that even Dry January participants and non-drinkers can enjoy. You’ll also receive a can of alcohol-free beer to take home with you at the end of the evening, and the taproom is open after the film ends.

Wiper And True delighted to be offering cans of their award-winning alcohol-free Beautiful Beers at the end of this screening, as part of their campaign - ‘The Choice is Yours’. Whether you’re choosing to cut back in the new year or not, alcohol-free lager Tomorrow and 0.5% pale ale Kaleidoscope, are deliciously refreshing options without any compromise. Try them for yourselves and see.

Please note that this event is strictly for over-18s only

About The Film

1987 | 15 | 107 mins

Withnail and Marwood are two struggling actors in 1960s London. Desperate from an escape from their existential woes (and their borderline uninhabitable flat), they convince Withnail’s eccentric uncle to let them stay at his holiday cottage in the Lake District - but their holiday turns out to be more stressful than the life they have left behind.
