‘Sideways’ is beautifully written, terrifically acted; it is paced and constructed with such understated mastery that it is a sort of miracle [...] New classics of American cinema don’t come along that often, so grab this one with both hands

About The Film

2004 | 15 | 122 mins

About The Location

There has been a church on this site for over 900 years, with the original structure dating back to the Norman era; the unusual name comes from an era when it was outside the city’s walls. After major renovation works in the late 18th Century, and again after damage from the Bristol Blitz, the church finally closed its doors and was deconsecrated in 1999. The building was the victim of an arson attack in 2016, but after years of restoration work it has now reopened as one of Bristol’s most unique and characterful new event spaces.
