Venue Spotlight: The Mount Without
We’re highlighting one of our iconic locations every week - starting with the stunning Mount Without…
The Mount Without is a Grade II listed building on St Michael’s Hill. There has been a church on this site for over 900 years, with the original structure dating back to the Norman era; the unusual name comes from an era when it was outside the city’s walls.
After major renovation works in the late 18th Century, and again after damage from the Bristol Blitz, the church finally closed its doors and was deconsecrated in 1999. The building was the victim of an arson attack in 2016, but after years of restoration work it has now reopened as one of Bristol’s most unique and characterful new event spaces.
With an atmospheric Crypt Bar and stunningly renovated church above, this dynamic venue plays host to a range of events - from sound baths to silent disco yoga, concerts to exhibitions - and of course, film screenings.
This February, enjoy two Baz Luhrrman epics in this beautiful venue as we screen Romeo+Juliet and Moulin Rouge!
