You'd be barking to miss this...
Our Screening Room Series, which launched in May 2022, returns at a new venue this autumn! These intimate screenings will celebrate a diverse range of films that the Festival team have personally selected; from genre highlights to foreign cinema, to underrated classics to indie gems, we’ll be showing a mix of great cinema that deserves a wider audience.
Every screening includes an arrival drink and an introduction explaining the context and significance of the chosen film, and the rationale behind its selection for our programme.
For Autumn 2022 the new home of the Screening Room Series is Bristol Improv Theatre, in the heart of Clifton. After the film, enjoy exclusive use of this fantastic venue’s bar and feel free to stay on and discuss what you’ve just watched – all opinions welcome!
To start our Autumn season, we’ve selected Christopher Guest’s glorious mockumentary Best In Show, a rather apt choice for the Improv Theatre given how much of the film was ad-libbed. You don’t have to be a dog lover to appreciate this tail – sorry, tale – of a prestigious dog show, which utilises everything from satire to slapstick comedy, and features a scene-stealing cameo from Fred Willard as a commentator hopelessly out of his depth.
