ABOUT

Bristol Film Festival was started by director Owen Franklin in 2015. The Festival provides an alternative experience for lovers of film and cinema, and celebrates the cultural landscape of his home city, Bristol.

The concept is simple: to bring classic films back to the big screen, in some of Bristol’s most iconic and interesting venues, including Bristol Museum, Brunel’s SS Great Britain, Aerospace Bristol, and Redcliffe Caves.

The films and locations are carefully matched together, and involve unique immersive elements - whether its live performers, tours of venues after hours, or themed wine tastings, you can expect to leave one of our events having had a film experience unlike any other! Take a look at our Events page to see what’s coming up.

We are an independent Bristol business and take pride in working with local suppliers and creators.

We look forward to welcoming you to an event soon!

SEASONS & SERIES

Bristol Film Festival hosts event all year round, with a Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter season.

Our four main Series take place regularly throughout the year.

You can find all of our current on-sale events here.

OUR CHARITY PARTNER

We are thrilled to be working with BRACE Dementia Research as our charity Partner for 2023.

BRACE Dementia Research is a small, Bristol charity with a big impact.

One in three people born in the UK this year will develop dementia in their lifetime. It is the UK’s biggest killer. It is not a normal part of ageing and research is the only way to find treatments and a cure.

That is why BRACE Dementia Research supports the Southwest Dementia Brain Bank, one of just six dementia research centres in the UK. The bank stores donated brains which underpin dementia research. In 2022 alone the South West Dementia Brain Bank provided 11,696 samples to researchers across the world.

We accept donations for BRACE on all of our ticketing pages, and promote BRACE’s important work across all of our channels.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Bristol Film Festival recognises that it has a responsibility to the environment beyond legal and regulatory requirements. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance as an integral part of our business strategy and operating methods, with regular review points. We will encourage customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to do the same.

We seek to reduce our usage of energy, water, and materials, and recycle and reuse items wherever possible. We evaluate the environmental impact of any activity or purchase, encourage reusable receptacles at all our events and work with partners to maximise their usage. We have sourced alternatives to single-use plastic items wherever this is an option.

We promote the use of ‘green’ modes of transport and make additional efforts to accommodate the needs of those using public transport and bicycles. Wherever possible we use local labour, services and materials.

We regularly review and update our environmental policy in consultation with staff, and adhering to all relevant regulatory and legal requirements.

Our full environmental policy can be read here.
