THE INCREDIBLES with TEDxBristol at 1532 Theatre

  • 1532 Bristol Elton Rd Bristol, England, BS8 1SJ United Kingdom (map)
It’s an all-conqueringly funny and blastingly energised family comedy [...] For those of you looking for the classic holiday movie, call off the search. These Incredibles claim to be an authentic family of superheroes. I believe them
— Peter Bradshaw (The Guardian)

DOORS: 18:15 | EVENT BEGINS: 18:35

Our Autumn 2024 season begins with our second screening in partnership with TEDxBRISTOL, as part of a special collaborative series combining great films with insightful talks from experts. Alongside a 20th anniversary screening of the beloved family superhero caper The Incredibles, 2023 TEDxBRISTOL speaker Suzan Issa will host a fascinating introductory talk.

Have you ever felt pressured to act differently or mask who you really are, just to fit in? For many of us it means that we hide the things that make us shine; for people who are neurodistinct, it can be a truly lonely and isolating experience. Suzan Issa explores the hidden cost of conformity and challenges us all to embrace our authentic selves.

Suzan’s talk will be a brilliant introduction to the Oscar-winning film, which sees Mr Incredible struggling to adapt to his civilian identity years after he was forced to hang up his costume (no capes, darling!). It’s a hilarious and heartwarming misadventure that’s perfect for the whole family.
