WHEN HARRY MET SALLY... at Clifton Observatory

  • Clifton Observatory Observatory Road Bristol, England, BS8 3LT United Kingdom (map)
A ravishing, romantic lark brimming over with style, intelligence and flashing wit [...] You can tell ‘When Harry Met Sally…’ is a winner by the way it leaves a smile on your face that lasts all the way home
— Peter Travers (Rolling Stone)

DOORS: 20:00 | FILM STARTS 20:20

The historic Clifton Observatory plays host to our Spirit Of Cinema screenings, which pair classic films with great spirit-based drinks. Join us in this intimate setting overlooking the Avon Gorge and Clifton Suspension Bridge, and (weather permitting) enjoy the stunning views day and night on the terrace before the film begins.

Your ticket includes a drink on arrival, as well as a festive-themed cocktail served during a brief interval in the film. If you’ve got to drive, or alcohol isn’t to your taste, we offer non-alcoholic ticket option – enjoy the drinks with a premium non-alcoholic alternative!

Just in time for the holiday, we’re bringing two slightly more adult-orientated Christmas crackers to the Observatory, finishing with Rob Reiner and Nora Ephron’s iconic romcom When Harry Met Sally… Whilst some purists may argue that it’s not strictly a Christmas movie, its December setting, Christmas-themed montages and wittily romantic storyline make this an ideal festive feel-good watch, perfectly paired with seasonal drinks.

Please note that this event is strictly for over-18s only

About The Film

1989 | 15 | 96 mins

When recent graduates and acquaintances Harry and Sally carpool to new York, they disagree over whether men and women can ever be “just friends”. They don’t expect to see each other again, but as their lives become intertwined, they begin to put this theory to the test - and learn more about themselves in the process…

About The Location

Established in 1766, Clifton Observatory is an iconic landmark and an integral part of the Bristol landscape. The Observatory has had a long and varied history, but one thing has remained consistent over the centuries: the spectacular and unforgettable views of Bristol, Avon Gorge, and the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

In 2015, the Observatory underwent a major restoration. Today, it’s home to the 360 café, a museum featuring a rare Victorian-era Camera Obscura, and the atmospheric and mythical Giant’s Cave.
