Join Bristol Film Festival at Clifton Summer Screenings!

Taking place in the beautiful Mall Gardens in the heart of Clifton Village, this is outdoor cinema with a twist. With covered seating, a state-of-the-art LED screen and wireless headphones, enjoy your film come rain or shine - this is an outdoor experience that’s not to be missed.

Usually held in Averys Wine Merchants’ historic wine cellar, this year the Vintage Screenings are going on tour for the first time, and will be hosted in screen2 at Clifton Summer Screenings. Following a sparkling wine reception, each film will be accompanied by a tasting of four carefully selected wines courtesy of our resident experts.

Friday evening’s Vintage Screening is the brilliant Bottle Shock, an indie gem and Festival favourite with the late, great Alan Rickman shining in the true story of a wine tasting competition that changed wine’s history. In keeping with the story, we’ll be facing off French and American wines for a showdown, and you can vote on your favourites!

PLEASE NOTE: this screening is strictly for over-18s only.

About The Film

2008 | 12 | 104 mins

Alan Rickman stars as sommelier Steven Spurrier, a British expat running a wine shop in Paris in the 1970s. He devises a blind tasting event to introduce his customers to other countries’ wine, and visits the unknown region of Napa Valley, California; little does he realise that his encounter with a rough-and-ready, father-and-son winemaking duo will alter the history of wine forever…

Contains infrequent strong language, moderate sex and drug references
